Abstract

Number 1 in a series of 1903 botanical field notes. This volume contains notes taken in Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and perhaps other Southeastern states from 14 April to 11 May 1903. Collector numbers 8000-8151 are included. Boynton collects a wide variety of plants. One frequently collected genus includes viola, in the violet family. Locations include but are not limited to London (KY), Fayetteville (NC), Knoxville (TN), Middlesboro (KY), and Big Stone Gap (VA). Boynton also includes descriptions of the specimen, descriptions of the soil and soil type, how common specimens are, and additional information.
