Abstract

Number 5 in a series of 1902 botanical field notes. This volume contains notes taken in North Carolina and perhaps other Southeastern states from 24 June to 11 July 1902. Collector numbers 6593-6752 are included. Boynton collects a wide variety of plants. Frequently collected genera include gallium, a herbaceous genus in the coffee family, and asplenium, a genus of fern. Locations include but are not limited to Manchester, Fayetteville, Silver City, Walnut Cove , Mount Airy, and Pilot Mountain. Boynton also includes descriptions of the specimen, descriptions of the soil and soil type, descriptions of landscape of localities visited, and additional information.
