Abstract

The notebook documents work for the New England and New Jersey scallop investigations, Grampus stations 10106-10156, August 20 - September 15, 1913. Dated entries include weather, descriptions of observed marine life, types of data collected (including hydrographic readings and trawling). Data includes station location, water depth, details about water samples, water temperatures on surface and various depths, bottom composition, and sometimes latitude and longitude positions. Collected specimens principally include crustaceans, mollusks, and fish, but also includes anything brought up by trawling. Specimen data includes type, size, condition, and quantity. Locations include the vicinity of Gloucester, Massachusetts; Nantucket; and Fire Island.
