Alexander Wetmore records details about specimen collecting and observations of birds in the vicinity of Independence, Kansas, Kansas; Minco, Oklahoma; and Lawrence, Kansas during June 1905 - January 1906. Specimen numbers include 1199 - 1459. The notebook begins with migration lists for spring in Independence, Kansas and Minco, Oklahoma; Fall migration is on page 118. He includes common name of birds, date first seen, quantity, next date seen, date became common, when last seen, common or rare, breeds, and remarks. |Subsequent information is listed chronologically, headed by date, and includes journal-style entries describing weather, method of collecting, bird behaviors, environment, and specimens collected. Entries for Lawrence, Kansas, begin with his attendance of the University of Kansas (September 3 - January 27) and includes personal details and observations of the town, mentions specimens he's received from other sources.
