PrintNumber 1 in a series of 1901 botanical field notes. This volume contains notes taken in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and perhaps other Southeastern states. This field book notes specimen 4001-4127 collected between 21 March and 9 April 1901. Boynton collected a variety of plants, although this book contains mostly notes on crataegus, a genus in the rose family. Locations include but are not limited to Ocala, Tarares, Saint Petersberg, Gainesville, and Jacksonville, Florida, Albany, Georgia, and Phenix City, Alabama. Boynton also includes sketches, measurements, descriptions of the specimen, descriptions of the soil and soil type, how common the species is, and additional information.
