Abstract

This field book is number 5 in a series of field books Boynton used in 1900 during collecting trips in Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, and perhaps other Southeastern states. This field book notes specimen 2900-3131 collected between 6 August and 4 September 1900. Boynton collected a wide variety of plants, especially flowering plants. One frequently collected genus is Panicum, a grass. Locations include but are not limited to Summerville, Charleston, and Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Savannah, Darien, and Way Cross, Georgia, and Jacksonville and Palatka, Florida. Boynton also includes brief descriptions of the specimen, descriptions of the soil and soil type, and sometimes how common the species is or whether or not it is indigenous.
