Abstract

The color film is marked as Waldo Schmitt's work during the Smithsonian-Bredin Belgian Congo Expedition, 1955. Most likely documents collecting in the Caribbean. The 62 minute video exists as a digital file, U-matic tape is a film transfer of reels 9-11 completed in August, 23, 1995, and the original reels. The film has no audio track. The film documents specimen collecting and preparation, life aboard ship, close-up images of crustacean specimens, coastal flora and fauna (including birds, turtles),beaches, fish and other marine life (shot underwater), and architectural ruins.
