Abstract

The note book includes field notes of Sidney Irving Smith for September August 31, 1872 - 1876. It begins with tables of data including, line, latitude and longitude, air temperature, surface and bottom water temperature for August 31 - September 16, 1892. This is followed by pages with types listed, some with notes, others blank. This is followed by what appear to results of dredging along shoals. Results list bottom conditions, latitude and longitude, date (thought not year), and Latin names of flora and fauna. Next is a list of surface species with sets of latitude land longitude positions; shells of New England; materials returned to Dr. Packard; and Whiteaves Crustacea 1873 Pages are numbered. Locations include Baie des Chaleurs, Canada; Gulf of St. Lawrence; New England; and Cultivator Shoal.
