Abstract

These are the field notes of Charles Dwight Marsh from the Smithsonian Biological Survey of the Panama Canal Zone, 1912. Also includes letter from John R. Downes to Marsh (February 12, 1912). Includes a transcript. The notebook is on plankton; algae sampling is ordered by specimen number with varying degrees of description. Usually includes type, location, and date. Sometimes includes description of vegetation in collecting environment, type of body of water, and method of storage. Locations in Panama include Catun Lake, Trinidad River, Chilibre River, and Rio Grande.
