Volume 72 are the journals of Dennis Stadel completed for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program. Includes handwritten copies of journals. 1) is D. Stadel's journal and catalog for the Hawaii Leeward trip March 11, 1965 - July 6, 1965, covering journal pages 251-436 and catalog pages 15-49. Dated entries are headed with island location and detail observed bird (individual and colonies), nests and eggs; breeding behavior; bird banding; daily work; specimen collecting and preparing; descriptions of island environments; mapping the islands; species accounts. Includes table of bird observations with type of bird, island, and totals banded and returned. Catalog includes number, location (if at sea includes latittude and longitude) ,type, sex, age, measurements, physical description, collector, sometimes band number and additional details about blood. Locations include Lisianski, Laysan, Pearl and Hermes Reef, Kure, Phoenix [Rawaki], Hull, Enderbury, Starbuck, Christmas [Kiritimati]. Includes maps with notes.
