Abstract

This field book contains notes on the paleontological specimen and geology of Devonian Oneida section and vicinity, Hamilton Group, taken approximately between 1931 and 1938. Pages are dated 1938 and 1931. Some pages are dated with a month and day, no year. Cooper describes stratigraphy, often providing color and consistency of shale in which fossils are found. Hand drawn stratigraphy chart is included. Brachiopod, Gastropod, Bryozoa, Bivalia and other fossil specimen are noted. Locations Cooper visits include Oneida Creek, Eaton, Pine Woods, Georgetown, West Brook, Morrisville, and other areas. Also included are several maps that are annotated and have numeric or alpha numeric codes that Cooper uses in his field notes to refer to locations. Some coordinates are included. Page numbers for these field notes are 1000-1204.
