Abstract

This field book contains note on the paleontological specimen and geology of the Devonian Hamilton Group in upper New York State. Locations listed include but are not limited to Beech's Quarry, Turkey Hill, Jack Knife Ravine, and Barber Point. Cooper notes specimen found and also which are the most common specimen in certain locations. Annotated maps are included. Maps are labeled with alpha numeric codes which he refers to in his field notes. Several hand drawn charts of the stratigraphy in various locations are included. Cooper also describes the color and consistency of the shale in which the fossils are found. The Marcellus formation and Moscow formation are included in these notes. Other formations may be included. Page numbers for these field notes are 0473a-0679.
