Abstract

This field book documents the field work and travel of Goldman in Mexico between 22 July and 18 September 1896. Goldman's narrative notes record taxon and common names of plants and mammals observed and collected. Other types of specimen may also be recorded. Agricultural crops observed in various areas are also noted. Some common specimens rabbits, Kangaroo rats, mice, gophers, and prairie dogs. Locations include but are not limited to the mountains near Encarnación, Gómez Farías, La ventura, Rio Verde, and Jalpan. Goldman's notes also record altitudes, weather conditions (occasionally), how common a species is in a particular area, and descriptions of the route he traveled.
