Abstract

This field book contains miscellaneous notes from 19 July to 10 September 1920 during Nelson's time in Alaska. Nelson recalls whales taken at Akutan, including type and count, conversations with hunters and others about the great number of caribou and deer spotted, reports of bears in Little Delta River, Grouse spotted South of Richardson, ducks observed in the Yukon, Horseshoe Lake, and Fairbanks, reindeer in Melozi Hot Springs and Saint Michael, and game in Nenana (Yukon). Note about specimens shipped also included (dated "Oct. 7/16"). Distances from Saint Michael to Kattick are included in the he back.
