Abstract

The field book was created by Kenneth C. Balcomb for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program Southern Island Cruise 16, during November 16-20 1966 on Howland Island. In the beginning of the field book is an itinerary of activities (with times of day) completed after arrival including blood samples collected, survey, photographs taken and return. The field book includes data collected on pelagic and shorebirds; most data relates to the Blue-faced and Brown Faced Booby. Collected data cover counts of birds (sex, age), eggs, and nests, and bird banding (listing band numbers 587-83454 to 587-82500, 737-82473 to 737-83500, and 757-61085 to 757-61100).
