Abstract

Color slides document the work completed in Antarctica by Waldo L. Schmitt during his participation in the Palmer Peninsula (Antarctica) Survey, 1962-1963. Some slides are labeled with location, date, and description -- sometimes time of day. Subject matter includes images of whaling industry in area of Deception Island during 1927 (duplicate of image in collection division 15). Images include destinations enroute to Antarctica; crustacean specimens; penguins in groups and in habitat; area map; and underwater collecting trips and observed invertebrates. Locations include the vicinity of Deception Island, Cape Crozier, and Doumier Island.
