Abstract

This field book documents Nelson's field research in Mexico between 15 January and 31 May 1892. Nelson's daily, narrative notes focus on birds and rodents he observed and collected from San Francisco, California to various locations in Mexico. Taxonomic names and some common names are included. Some annotations (particularly for taxonomic names) by unknown person are also included. Locations include Cape St. Lucus, Mazatlan, Colina, Armería river or armeria mexico, Agosto near plantinar Jalisco, Serra Nevada, Zapotlan, and other locations. Nelson also describes the architecture and social customs of towns he visits.
