Abstract

Color slides document work completed by Waldo L. Schmitt during the Smithsonian-Bredin Caribbean Expedition, 1958. Slides are labeled with number, date, location and sometimes description. Most of the subject matter covers detail images of plants (mangroves, flowers), and marine life (star fish, brittle stars, fish, snails). Also includes sugarcane workers; sailing vessels; collecting specimens along coastline with nets; map of expedition route; and views of communities on islands visited. Locations include Antigua, Sopers Hole on Tortola, Anegada, Sint Maarten [St. Martin], Gorda Sound in the Virgin Islands, and Ascension Bay [Bahía de la Ascensión].
