Abstract

Color slides document Waldo L. Schmitt's work during the Smithsonian-Bredin Society Islands Expedition, 1957. Some slides have no labels. Subject matter covers images of travel enroute to expedition destinations, Bora Bora dance contest, participants collecting; monuments visited; detail images of specimens collected (fish, anemone, crustaceans, shells); participants; coastline reefs and beaches; arriving and departing islands; and images of crew and local inhabitant met. Locations include Bora-Bora, Tahiti, Tikahau Atoll and Caroline Islands.
