Abstract

Color slides document work completed by Waldo L. Schmitt during the Smithsonian-Bredin Belgian Congo Expedition, 1955. Slides are labeled with number, location and sometimes description. Includes images of indigenous individuals and families; structures; examples of vegetation and terrain; shorelines of rivers and lakes; Congo River ferry; maps; participants preparing specimens; national parks; and observed wildlife. Locations in Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo include the vicinity of Mulungu, Astrida [Butare (?)], Brazzaville, Butembo, Ruindi [Rwindi], Lwiro, and Kagera [Parc National de l'Akagera].
