Abstract

Stereo slides [stereographs] document work completed by Waldo L. Schmitt during the Smithsonian-Bredin Belgian Congo Expedition, 1955. Images are organized by subject matter. There are no captions. Subject matter includes structures in visited communities; views of Congo River; aerial views of Stanleyville [Kisangani]; vegetation on Mt. Hoyo; indigenous residences; ferries crossing rivers; Wagenia fishery; Obe plantation and local fishing methods with seine nets; palm oil nuts and factory, vistas and detail shots of terrain around Lake Kivu; indigenous individuals and families (Pygmies); and Egyptian ruins.
