Abstract

Color slides document Waldo L. Schmitt's work completed during the US Navy Galapagos Expedition, 1941. Slide labels include numbers, dates (sometimes ranges), location, and sometimes time of day. Subject matter includes images of birds, nests, aerial and oblique views of terrain and vegetation, coastlines and beaches, inland bodies of water, communities and local inhabitants, as well as participants and crew. Locations include Tampico and Tapacula [Tapachula], Mexico; Malpelo, Ecuador; and James Island [Isla San Salvador].
