Abstract

Color slides document Waldo L. Schmitt's work during the US Navy Galapagos Expedition, 1941. Slide labels detail location, date, and brief description. Names of individuals photographed are sometimes included as well as times of day. Includes images of military base structures and staff; participants on collecting trips to islands; vegetation and terrain of islands visited; and marine life. Locations in Ecuador include the vicinity of Conway Bay [Bahía Conway]; Indefatigable island [Isla Santa Cruz]; Villamil; and James Island [Isla San Salvador].
