Abstract

Slides document the work of Waldo L. Schmitt during his participation in the Hancock South America Expedition (1939). Slides are labeled with numbers, dates, and locations. Includes views of New York during departure; local inhabitants and structures in Port-au-Prince, Haiti; crew working aboard ship; beaches and coastline of Aruba; collecting specimens in Caracas; Hindu temple and herds in Port of Spain; a natural pitch lake in Trinidad; various images of locations in Buccoo; and dredging for specimens. Locations include places in Venezuela, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and Haiti. Some of the images are duplicates of photographs in collection division 17.
