PrintCharles D. Walcott records observations of sites in Nevada, between 1885 and 1896. Notes are handwritten and typed; typed notes appear to be compilation of information copied from handwritten notes. Handwritten notes are usually made up of a few pages, and usually housed individually in archival envelopes. Recorded information includes overview descriptions of sites, followed by detailed descriptions of sections, including details about types of stone (limestone, shale, quartzite, sandstone), characteristics (color, texture), sketches (some detailed), hand-drawn maps, fossils found, specimens collected and photographs taken. Observations are largely of Cambrian, Silurian, Ordovician and Devonian layers. Sites visited include the vicinity of: Silver Peak District, Lone Mountain, Highland Range, Panaca, Hyko [Hiko], Pahranagat Range [Mount Irish Range], and Raymond Mill Divide.
