Abstract

The black and white photographs document Robert A. Bartlett's work for the department of Invertebrate Zoology of Smithsonian Institution during the Greenland Expedition of 1936. Photographs are numbered on the reverse side; these correspond with captions recorded on individual pieces of paper in the folder. Subject matter includes expedition participants collecting marine (fish and plankton) and botanical specimens; and preparing specimens on the deck of the ship; Eskimo children; crew working on the ship; participants collecting on beach coastlines; kayaks. Locations include Angmagssalik [Tasiilaq]; Jameson Land; Rathbone Ø; Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord; and Cape Tattersall.
