Abstract

The report, "Biological Investigations: Palmer Peninsula and South Shetland Islands," documents Waldo Schmitt's work during the Palmer Peninsula (Antarctica) Survey, 1962-1963. The report covers visited locations in the vicinity of Marguerite Bay, Arthur Harbor, Dorian Bay, Argentine Islands, Paradise Harbor, Danco-Couverville Island, Melchior Islands, Wilhelmina Bay, Alcock Island, Deception Island, Weddell Sea, Discovery Bay, and Admiralty Bay. Collected specimens and observations cover plants, insects, birds, seals, and crustaceans. Report includes individual site investigations, that are organized by location and give detailed descriptions of the environment, work completed, and flora and fauna observed and collected. Includes handwritten and typed drafts of the report submitted to the United States Antarctic Program.
