Abstract

Charles D. Walcott records observations of sites across Montana while working for the U.S. Geological Survey. Includes descriptions of sections, Cambrian strata, Algae beds, glacial formations, fossils found, sketches (some very detailed), and photographs. Formations observed include: Algonkian, Greysan, and Collen. Sites observed include the vicinity of Beautooth Butte, Mt. Edith, North Fork Dearborn River, Big Blackfoot Valley, Mt. Jumbo (photographs), Haystack Butte, Saw Mill Canyon, and Marysville.
