Abstract

Charles D. Walcott and Charles Elmer Resser record geological characteristics of sites throughout Montana, from 1900 to 1929. Notes are handwritten and are usually titled with location and date. Several of the notes are housed in archival envelopes. Details include observations of layers and characteristics of quartzite, sandstone, limestone and shale; sketches and sections; photographs of M. Collen by Algonkian limestone; and glacial phenomena. Sites visited include the vicinity of: Swan Range near Holland Creek, Young's Creek, Pale Creek, Tobacco Root Range, Melrose, McCartney Range, and Bridge Range.
