Abstract

These are notes compiled by Waldo Schmitt from the diary of Carl N. Shuster, Jr. from the Smithsonian-Bredin Caribbean Expedition, 1958. Schuster worked for the Department of Biological Sciences of the University of Delaware. Entries are dated. Includes details about daily activities, movies of locations shot, locations visited, types of specimens collected (listed per site usually by common or scientific name), anchorages, and station numbers visited and descriptions of environment and work completed at location. Sometimes entries are broken up by topic in order to describe subject matter of motion picture film and/or photos shot. Includes a separate loose sheets with editor's note and draft of letter. Locations in the Caribbean include but are not limited to Saint Thomas, Tortola, Guana, Virgin Gorda and Anguilla.
