Abstract

Charles D. Walcott records observations of sites in Massachusetts in 1886 and 1888. In the notes of 1886, he describes Laconic limestone, discussing characteristics of the formations of limestone and slate, as well as fossils observed. Site may be at the Rock Hilll school house in Greenwich, Massachusetts. The second set of notes describes a site at Attleborough, Massachusetts where Walcott observed Cambrian rock formations with N.S. Shaler and Aug. Frederic Foerste. Notes cover observed characteristics of strata, fossils observed and discuss similarities to sites in Rensselaer and Washington Counties in New York.
