Abstract

This field book contains field notes on birds taken from 12 January to 17 March 1980. Notes contain daily lists of various birds spotted in Virginia. Most of the birds listed were observed at Eike's home on 6207 Newman Road, Fairfax or in the surrounding area. Other locations may be included. Notes occasionally include weather and temperature information, quantity, time spotted, and the sex of the birds. Legend on the verso of the cover: triangle -- bird seen in triangle; "s" – singing; “c” – calling; male sign – male; female sign – female; "*" -- first seen; “*” with circle – hawk; check mark – subsequent; check mark with apostrophe above – see note. Two clippings are included: Funeral announcement for Ralph Robey, 2-22-80; “698 species seen, but birdwatcher falls short of goal”, 1-14-80.
