Abstract

The black and white photographs and negatives document the work of Waldo Schmitt during the Smithsonian-Bredin Caribbean Expedition, 1956. There are no captions on the reverse side of the photographs. Subject matter includes examples of island coastlines; local inhabitants fishing with seines; candid images of expedition participants aboard ship; group portraits of participants and unidentified individuals; from aboard while in port; beaches and shorelines; local expedition staff. Some images are duplicates of others in other folders.
