32 photographs document work of Smithsonian-Bredin Belgian Congo Expedition, 1955, led by Waldo Schmitt. Short captions are recorded on the reverse side. Subject matter includes local children; views of structures and skyline of Leopoldville [Kinshasa]; participants interacting with local inhabitants; accommodations; elephants; Watusi and Mangbetu dancers; a lava field; hippopotami; and Bunia Market. Locations in the Democratic Republic of Congo include Leopoldville [Kinshasa], Lwiro [Luiro], and Butembo.
