Abstract

This record refers to 3 field books created for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program Southern Island Cruise 11, in 1966. Envelope 1 contains a field book by unknown authors that is a blood catalog from Howland and Enderbury Islands. The blood catalog includes samples from Blue-faced boobies, Great frigatebirds, Brown boobies, and Red-footed boobies. The catalog lists band numbers (558-85938 to 777-57449); species; sex; age; color phase; and whether incubating, on eggs, or other distinctions. Envelope 2 contains a field book by Robert L. DeLong from activities conducted on Baker Island. The field book includes a detailed job description; lists of equipment and supplies; band lists (524-94815 to 843-77200); bird counts; and travel notes. Envelope 3 contains a field book by Richard S. Crossin from work conducted on Enderbury Island. The field book includes travel notes; observations of Brown booby nests and Great frigatebird colonies; and bird banding data (listing band numbers 747-52577 to 777-55639).
