Abstract

This field book contains field notes on birds taken from 20 January to 24 May 1973. Notes contain lists of various birds spotted in Virginia. Most of the birds listed were observed at Eike's home on 6207 Newman Road, Fairfax or in the surrounding area. Birds observed at Virginia Society of Ornithology annual meeting in "Mountain Lake", and at Bull Run Regional Park, Bull Run Marina, and Kiptopeke on various occasions are also included. Other locations may be included. Notes occasionally include weather and temperature information, quantity, time spotted, and the sex of the birds. Symbol codes on the verso of the cover are as follows: triangle -- bird seen in triangle from rocking chair; upside-down T -- hanging feeder; "T" -- standing feeder; "(s)" -- bird in song; "*" -- first seen in the this season; check mark -- subsequent (used mostly for rare appearance).
