Abstract

Charles D. Walcott records observations of Yellowstone National Park between 1897 and 1915. Notes comprise two sections. The first is more journal style in nature. It includes not only observations of geological formations in the park, but details about individuals he encountered, park procedures, and tourist activities. These entries are usually succinct. The second section details observations of Hot Springs deposits and algae growth at a site near "the Diamond" pool. These notes include diagrams and temperature readings. Sites visited include the Upper Geyser Basin; Custer City, South Dakota; Bighorn National Forest; and the Diamond Pool.
