Abstract

This item is comprised of photographs (no.100-206) taken by or for Perrygo during his collecting endeavors with Arthur J. Poole in Haiti from December 1928 to April 1929. Photographs document the landscape and vegetation of various localities, depict members of the collecting team, and document everyday Haitian people and their lifestyles, including an officer at Fort Liberte, Perrygo and Poole at camp near Muertos Island off the north coast of Haiti, members of the collecting team with an airplane, a preacher and his wife in front of a church and various Haitian adults and children near their home. Localities included: Don Don [Dondon], Grande Rivière, "Cape Haitien" [Cap-Haïtien], Fort-Liberté, Tercero Island [possibly near Tercero in the Dominican Republic], Muertos Island, and Island of La Gonave [Île de la Gonâve ]. A corresponding list of photographs and subjects is located in Box 2 Folder 14 of the same collection.
