Abstract

This item refers to 3 field books created for the Pacific Ocean Biological Survey Program on Southern Island Cruise #5, 1964. Envelope 1 contains a field book by Douglas E. Gill with data collected on Christmas Island, Malden Island, Starbuck Island, Hull Island, Phoenix Island, Baker Island, and Howland Island. The field book includes banding data, and nest, chick, and egg counts; lists of supplies, an expense list; and an itinerary. Envelope 2 contains a field book by an unknown author with data collected on Phoenix Island, Enderbury Island, McKean Island, Christmas Island, and Malden Island. The field book includes banding data; chick and egg data; and hand-drawn maps, possibly of bird colonies. Envelope 3 contains a field book by an unknown author that contains a list of insects on Starbuck Island; and banding data from Starbuck Island and McKean Atoll.
