Notes, papers, memoranda, and related materials document Waldo Schmitt's participation in the Presidential Cruise of 1938. Materials cover the scientific results of the cruise. Subject matter includes collected sponges; list of fishes collected (common and scientific name, where collected, and sometimes specimen characteristics); a progress report on the Presidential Cruise detailing locations and types of specimens collected and anchorages; related publications; botanical specimens and discoveries; and note cards indicating quantities caught per location.
