Abstract

The photographs document Waldo Schmitt's work during the Smithsonian-Hartford West Indies Expedition, 1937, while in Tortuga. Some images are numbered, have descriptions, and some are duplicates. Subject matter includes candid images of local inhabitants; local vessels; images of coastlines; hillside vegetation; and local residential structures.
