The second volume of Waldo Schmitt's diary documents his work during the Smithsonian-Hartford West Indies Expedition, 1937. Dates cover April 18 - May 12, 1937. Entries are dated. Subject matter covers interactions with local inhabitants and colleagues; procurement of supplies; visits to communities; locations visited; specimen collecting including descriptions of locations (beaches and reefs); descriptions about being at sea; weather; descriptions of towns and historic sites. Locations in West Indies include Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Barbados, Saint Thomas and Puerto Rico.
