Abstract

This field book contains a catalogue of specimen numbered 4417 -5745 which Chittenden collected or which was collected by others and numbered according to Chittenden's directions between approximately 1909 to 1919. Chittenden and his colleagues collected Lepidoptera, Diptera (including Anthomyiidae and Bombyliidae), Coleoptera (including Chrysomeloidea), Hemiptera (including Aphididae), Hymenoptera, Orthoptera, and other insect groups, many or all of which are parasitic. Collecting took place in the United States, Peru, Puerto Rico, and possibly other countries. Some frequently recorded locations include Wisconsin, Virginia, Puerto Rico, Iowa. Other locations not recorded in this record are included. The catalogue contains the following information: number, name (binomial), Host (plant or other insect was found on), Locality, Date, and collector. Common names are occasionally recorded.
