Abstract

The second volume of the diary documents Waldo Schmitt's work with the Hancock Pacific-Galapagos Expedition, 1934. It covers dates February 27 - March 10, 1934. Pages 1-111 of volume 2 contain station data. The entries are dated, and include descriptions of destinations; specimens collected; wildlife and vegetation observed; air and water temperature; weather; and interactions with participants. Locations include the vicinity of Oaxaca, Mexico; Guayaquil and La Plata, Ecuador; Gorgona Island; and Galapagos Islands [Archipiélago de Colón], Tangola-Tangola [Bahía Tangolunda], Tenacatita Bay [Bahía Tenacatita], Isabel Island and Magdalena Bay [Bahía Magdalena] in Mexico.
