PrintThis bound logbook records surface sample data from Vema cruise 19 bottom trawls from April 19 to December 4, 1963 from Peru to New York. Summary of route (as reflected by station points recorded): the first coordinates are 14° 06'S, 96° 12'E which is off the west coast of South America. They travel east into the Philippine Sea, then continue east and south into the South China Sea, Java Sea, and into the Indian Ocean. Traveling west and south across the Indian Ocean, they pass through the Mozambique Channel, round the tip of Africa, and enter into the South Atlantic Ocean. Finally, they continue north and west into the North Atlantic Ocean and end at 35° 21'N, 55° 27'W, off the coast of Virginia. The logs record the following information: date, time, coordinates, sample number, surface temperature, depth, time in the bottom, and observations.
