Abstract

Black-and-white photographs document Waldo Schmitt's work in the Faulklands [Falkland Islands] during the Walter Rathbone Bacon Traveling Scholarship Expeditions to the East and West Coasts of South America, 1925-1927. Some photographs have descriptions and years listed on reverse. Subject matter include penguins (individual, groups, and with surrounding habitat); ships in port; marine mammals (sea lions); towns and structures; digging sod blocks; portraits of local inhabitants; pastures and herds of sheep; and sheep dogs.
