Abstract

Black-and-white photographs document Waldo Schmitt's work in Brazil during the Walter Rathbone Bacon Traveling Scholarship Expeditions to the East and West Coasts of South America, 1925-1927. Some of the photographs are duplicates; some duplicates are in other folders. There is no information listed on the reverse side. Subject matter includes examples of tunneling / burrowing by observed crustaceans in sand of shorelines (some with measurements); detail images of shoreline vegetation; candid images of colleagues and local inhabitants including their families, sometimes in the field; images of bays; vistas of city skylines; fishermen at work on vessels; working ports; and local residences.
