Abstract

The black-and-white photographs document Waldo Schmitt's work during the Walter Rathbone Bacon Traveling Scholarship Expeditions to the East and West Coasts of South America, 1925-1927. Box 80 folder 12 is a notebook listing photographs by number, sometimes with more descriptive information. Subject matter covered includes candid images of expedition participants in the field near the Iapó and Paraná river; surrounding countryside; participants collecting from rivers; streets of towns; detail images of equipment; and vistas of coastline. Locations in Brazil include vicinity of Praia Enseada da Baleia, Iapó, and Paraná.
