Abstract

This field book contains John Murdoch's catalogue on natural history and ethnological collections made by the Point Barrow Polar Expedition, 1881-1883. Collections are from Point Barrow, Alaska and other Alaska locations between approximately 15 October 1881 and August 1883. Both natural history and ethnological collections are combined into one list. Natural history collections contain a wide variety of specimen and does not seem to have a focus or scope. Most or all specimen are Animals, especially mammals, but also include some aves, and possibly other animals. Recorded are collector, specimen / object number, date, article (what was collected), and locality. Some specimen names are in another language, possibly in Iñupiaq. Numbers range from 1 to 1749. Box 1 Folder 1 contains a preservation copy of this item.
