Abstract

This item documents the collection efforts of L.J. Brass and J.D. Collins for the "Sixth Archbold Expedition to [Papua] New Guinea" in 1959. Dated entries begin March 28, 1959 "near Markham River Bridge, about 10 miles west of Lae, Morobe District" and end at "The Lookout, 5800 ft., Wau-Kaindi Road, Morobe District" on December 13, 1959. Entries include specimen no., scientific name or common name, and narrative description of locality (including elevation), growing conditions, and description of specimen. Size in centimeters or meters, color, and type of specimen are noted. The item also includes 5 collections made by J. J. Havel. Other localities include Purosa in the vicinity of the Okapa District, Mount Wilhelm, and Mt. Michel in the Eastern Highlands province, and the Umi River in the Markham Valley (now known as Markham Canyon, in the Morobe District (now known at Morobe province).
